Most scrolling starts with a reasonable intention. Someone sends a video, a post, or a link that looks useful. You tap it because you want that one quick video.
The problem is what loads around it. Recommendations, comments, autoplay, and profile links are all designed to keep the session going after your original reason is gone.
Start outside the app
When possible, open the link from a neutral place first. Paste it into Uncuff or use the iOS share sheet. That keeps the original app from becoming the starting point.
Make the exit obvious
A focused viewer gives the link a clear end. Once the post is done, there is no next feed item waiting underneath it.
Save deliberately
If the post is worth keeping, save it to your own list. A saved list is a tool. A feed is an invitation to keep browsing.
